India is the seventh largest country in the world in terms of area. The Indian subcontinent is surrounded by three different water bodies and is easily recognisable on the world map. On the south, India projects into and is bounded by the Indian Ocean –- in particular, by the Arabian Sea on the southwest, the Lakshadweep Sea to the south, and the Bay of Bengal on the southeast.

India measures 3,214 km (1,997 mi) from north to south and 2,933 km (1,822 mi) from east to west. India is divided into 29 states and 7 union territories. Having an extraordinary history and culture, all the states and union territories in India never fail to charm its visitors.
